Internships
We are accepting resumes for Fall 2012 internships through April 20th.
Overview
The Times Union Center is Upstate New York's premier sports and entertainment facility. Home to the Siena College Men's Basketball team as well as the AHL's Albany Devils, the arena also hosts many of today's top concerts, family shows and high school/college athletic events.
Students participating in our internship program will receive hands-on learning experiences in the operations of a sports and entertainment facility.
Requirements
Students must:
- Be currently enrolled in a college or university
- Provide documentation of receiving academic credit
- Submit a cover letter and resumé

- Internships are available full time and part time
Marketing
(Spring 2012 positions have been filled. If you are interested in Fall 2012, we will still be accepting resumes for that semester.)
The following is a list of duties that the intern will be expected to perform, however the job is not limited to the duties on the list.
- Write press releases, photo captions, new releases and photo advisories
- Assist with the coordination of press conferences and other media events
- Develop and execute in-game promotions for both professional and college level local sports teams
- Design print ads, posters, postcards, flyers, brochures, email newsletters, etc.
- Write radio and television scripts
- Learn all aspects of print advertising including ad placement, lay-out and billing
- Assist in the distribution of media credentials and escorting media at various events
Group Sales
The following is a list of duties that the intern will be expected to perform, however the job is not limited to the duties on the list.
- Actively promote Group Sales events and solicit group customers through direct mail pieces, telemarketing and in-person meetings
- Maintain group sales database
- Target potential group clients through internet research
- Promote group sales at college campus events
- Table on college campuses to promote group sales events
- Design and create event posters
- Assist group sales representatives during events
- Collaborate with group sales representatives to develop strategic sales campaigns
- General office work
Event Services/Operations
The following is a list of duties that the intern will be expected to perform, however the job is not limited to the duties on the list.
- Work with Microsoft Office applications like Word, Excel and Publisher
- Assist in the preparation for events such as concerts, family shows and sporting events
- Assist in the maintenance of guard licensing through New York State
- Coordinate deliveries for materials needed on a per show basis
- General office work
- Help communication between departments pertaining to event needs
- Evaluate building policies and procedures to find more efficient methods
- Work long hours on some days when events are schedules
Finance
The following is a list of duties that the intern will be expected to perform, however the job is not limited to the duties on the list.
- Handle Accounts Payable.
- Process Box Office work.
- Assist accounting department as needed.
- Process all invoices.
- Maintain an open payable listing, prepare payment, review report and produce checks for payment.
- Move invoices to appropriate files.
- Reconcile daily box office work and various monthly accounts.
- Handle all payables for the Times Union Center Garage.
- Reconcile bank accounts.
- Assist with financial statements and special projects.
- All other duties as assigned.
